CMO's Handheld Software applications provides unique software applications to the mobile worker, including the mobile audit management software system, in addition to extending the existing corporate applications to the field. The applications run on popular handheld devices (eg Pocket PC, Tablet PC) and are capable of running applications with or without a wireless connection to the server. The master copy of applications and application data can either be stored within existing enterprise applications, or within CMO products on a secure, centralized server, with changes and additions being made to the data as users synchronize from their remote handheld devices.
The CMO Handheld Software applications provide a flexible integration framework based on an "embrace-not-replace" approach to leveraging legacy environments if required. Whilst the applications can run in a stand alone environment supported by the CMO Handheld Software web or desktop based interfaces, the handheld applications can communicate with existing front office and back office systems through a variety of supported transport protocols and data formats. Easy Audit, the mobile audit management software system is a prime example of this.
CMO has developed a range of tools to allow the CMO Handheld Software applications to connect to various enterprise applications and legacy systems, and we offer three options for achieving this with CMO Handheld Software applications. These options support connection modes for existing desktop applications, enterprise applications, and Web-based applications.
Web Services ODBC
Driver SQL
Interface
The CMO Handheld Software applications can integrate information from systems to distribute greater business intelligence to the back office, front office and no-office workers. As the processes becomes more integrated, the limitations of distributed legacy information are overcome by the power the CMO Handheld Software applications gives your process.
Web Services
The CMO Handheld Software applications can use web services as a method to allow other enterprise applications to submit and receive SQL queries and transfer XML-formatted responses. To deploy Web services applications, the CMO Mobile application Web services need to be mapped to the existing enterprise application.
The Web Services interface has various integrated security features including provisions that reconstruct the query to prevent attacks. SQL queries execute with the permissions assigned to the user whose username and password are used to authenticate them on the CMO Handheld Software application.
ODBC Driver
CMO provides an Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) driver to provides access to tables in CMO Handheld Software applications. ODBC drivers are available for most widely used data-driven application software, and they are supported in all Windows operating systems.
With the CMO Handheld Software ODBC driver installed, using the Windows ODBC Connection Manager a new ODBC connection can be configure to the to the data source.
In addition, ODBC connections can update CMO Handheld Software application tables whilst preserving the security and integrity of the application, because the CMO Handheld Software server assigns the ODBC driver the permissions held by the user profile associated with the username and password used by the driver. SQL Interface
CMO can provide a set of tools to generate SQL views on top of various tables within the applications. These views will convert CMO internal id's to user-defined column and table names. Thus the internal integrity of the CMO tables will be maintained during the update and insert records processes.
Accessing this interface requires the developer to have administrator access to the application in order to create the SQL view. If the data structure of the application is altered, then the view and the SQL queries that depend on it need to be updated to use any newly assigned table or column names within the database.
Hence your organisation may have systems that manage various business processes. These may have been purchased "off the shelf" or developed in-house or by custom development teams. With CMO Handheld Software applications, you may have extended the reach of these applications to remote users. Hence in addition to being a complete solution, CMO Handheld Software applications provide interactivity, through XML Web Services, ODBC Drivers and SQL Interfaces to any other applications.
